was incorporated in the State of Illinois in 1970, and since its inception has pioneered in the re-development of older, mixed use properties, primarily located in the “River North” area of Chicago.

Under the direction of Ken Pearl, President of City Properties, these “grand old buildings” that had formerly given employment to many of Chicago’s factory workers, smaller manufacturing companies and retail-type stores, have been transformed into viable, customized individual environments for use as commercial office suites, retailing, gallery space, entertainment and restaurant facilities for the small to mid-sized user. The City of Chicago and other Real Estate businesses doing the same type of re-development soon realized that to some degree they were following the lead of Ken Pearl and City Properties. Numerous articles have been written by the Chicago Sun-Times and the Tribune newspaper’s real estate staff writers, which have previously referenced Ken Pearl as, “The Original Developer of River North.”
